Our final day in the Essen and Ruhr area took us to the Pestalozzi Gymnasium in Herne for a visit with the director of the bilingual education at the school.
We visited two history classes in the bilingual department. The teachers and students later joined us for a conversation about learning History and other subjects in English, and there was a great exchange of ideas.
We enjoyed lunch in Dusseldorf prior to our meeting with the Mediazentrum of the North Rhine Westphalia Education Ministry responsible for the academic and cultural media creation and the digitizing and archiving of multimedia projects.
It was interesting to see the facilities and the works in progress.
We then spent the rest of the afternoon at the Goethe-Institut in Dusseldorf where we met Stefan who gave us the insider's tour of the facilities.
We even had time to watch the USA defeat Algeria in the World Cup match. We have serious football/soccer fans on this trip!
We took the train to Frankfurt, saying farewell to Madalena and Nico who took such good care of us. We are settled in to the hotel, and several folks are watching the game or touring the area and locating a light dinner or snack.
